Most of the article directories are low quality, because of their editorial standards and because of the people that would copy someone else's article, spin it at bit and submit it as a new, original article. However...the well established, strong article directories would give you a valuable backlink and you'll also get a bit of traffic too...

Trouble is with people that would copy your article, post it on their website and link to you...this way you'll get a backlink from them but that would come from a duplicate content source which adds little value to the link itself.

Nice tips, thanks.

(I like the Pope analogy.)

What's your view on article submissions to directories like ezine, etc? Most people I've read are generally in favor of this.

Thank you for a great and informative article. You described the most common link building tactics that will absolutely be useful for those e-marketers who is just starting a link building campaign.

I've been doing some SEO for our company's website and I agree that both "dofollow" and "nofollow" links should be collected to make a link building process more naturally looking. From link building methods I like the directory submission, article submission and blog commenting most. With the use of automatic submission tools, directory submission, article submission and blog commenting are made quick and easy. Yes, writing articles requires time and efforts, but it's possible to hire a writer to create the articles if one is not good at writing.
